May not look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you! Expansive breakfast menu (served all day) that features numerous variations on the Benedict. However, the real star is the house-smoked meat featured on the lunch menu. Brisket, chorizo, and pulled pork: all house made. Tacos also feature fresh gulf shrimp and seafood. Prices are also very reasonable and staff very friendly.

This is my favorite place for breakfast in Fort Walton Beach. Everthing I've tried on the menu is very delicious. There are lots of menu options, so if you have a large group, there's something for everyone. The Floribbean Omelet is scrumptious! Other notable mentions include the ribs, Floribbean Tacos, pretty much all the Bennies, and the double chocolate chip & Red velvet waffles are all delectable. This is just from my personal experiences. The parking lot in the front (off Eglin Parkway) is limited and tight. I recommend skipping that all together, and just park in the back. There's a larger gravel lot with plenty of space. It can be accessed easily from either side-road past TM's (going either directing). From that lot, you can walk past the smoker, and smell all the deliciousness. And, there's a nice garden area in the back. The service has always been good. Very friendly, like you would expect from a Southern Style Mom & Pop restaurant. The place has always been clean. The menu is diverse and priced reasonably. Overall, this place is great in every aspect.

food was amazing but the wait for our food was crucial. BUT The breakfast was cooked to perfection and the food was worth the wait !!!!!
(4)Adley V.
5 stars for the food, 1 star for the wait and service. I don't get this place. The food is outstanding. The barbecue, top notch. I usually order the half muffuletta (huge sandwich with meats on meats) with chips during lunch time or the eggs benedict with pulled pork for breakfast, also amazing. But... On Saturdays and Sundays between 10am to about 12:30, sometimes 1 o'clock, this place gets slammed. I mean, really, really busy. The wait for a table during those times is 15-20 minutes. Very reasonable. But every single time I've been there I've been seated by the hostess and have had 3 different waitresses during my meal so I never knew who was actually waiting on us. It was a bit confusing. After we're seated it takes a while to get drink orders in, usually 5 to 10 minutes. Then your food order, that takes a long while, too. The second time we went, I actually timed how long it took for our food to arrive. It took 57 MINUTES. 57! That's just unacceptable. Don't get me wrong, I want to go to this restaurant because the food is superb. No complaints. But the wait...ugh. You're killing' me smalls! This place needs help, but not in the food department.

Had the Landlubber Breakfast this time (and the past couple times). 2 eggs, a meat (bacon or sausage), a bread (toast, biscuit, or English muffin), a side, and a small pancake. I chose bacon, a biscuit, and grits with mine, as well as orange juice and coffee. It was all in all very delicious. Service is always good, and I've never had to ask for a coffee refill. I highly recommend.
(5)Ken K.
Wow! Amazing food, everything tasted awesome. I couldn't pick which waffle I wanted so I just got 4 haha They warned me but I didn't listen hahaha I have breakfast for 3 days! Very friendly and humorous staff. Good order times and pleasant classic-styled atmosphere. Very expensive :O Best breakfast I've had at a restaurant yet, though
(5)Alba D.
Food and service are good. I had the Spanish style Benedict eggs and they were great! I wish they had more healthy options like offering a side salad option instead of fries. You can find locals and people working at the nearby Military base enjoying a hot meal and watching Fox News.
(4)Tanya S.
Surprised by the mixed reviews but I had a wonderful experience here. The service wasn't the fastest but I wasn't in a hurry at the time. It wasn't slow or anything, just average I guess. Coffee wasn't refilled as often as I'd like but that's about the only complaint I have. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The food was amazing. I had the Spanish main bennie and it was so good My friend had the red velvet waffles and she said they were delicious. I really want to try the crepes and the Floribbean tacos on my next visit.
(5)Julia B.
Delicious food. However you are going to WAIT for that delicious food. Attentive and happy servers who are helpful. Free WiFi which you'll need while waiting for your food. Good coffee and food and staff but the wait between ordering and eating - EGADS!
(4)Janine M.
My son is stationed at Eglin Air Force base - we were visiting him and on our last day he was like "let's go to the best breakfast place ever" ok son, you da boss! We go in - place has got a good vibe- it's busy but not super busy- we are seated right away. We place our orders...it takes over an hour to get our food (which is why I took a star away) the only frustrating part was that people that well seated well after us were served and left before we even got our food. Our server was apologetic so that was nice. Anyway, the moment we've been waiting for- the food arrives! My son and both got the Spanish Main bennies! Yum! Son friend got a blueberry crepe and my husband and other son both got different types of bennies which they all said were delicious! Moral of the story we will definitely go back when we visit our son just not when we have a plane to catch!
(4)Aaron D.
Awesome food and awesome service. The parking situation is challenging but well worth it. Service was top notch. Ask for Kaitlin!

Whatever!!! This place sucks and I kick myself repeatedly for giving it another stab. It was, literally, our second to last day in Fort Walton FOREVER (later dawgs), and my daughter convinced me that Oooooh, yeah! Red velvet waffle!!! Fine, fine. The kids can get hopped up on some sugar and we can go clean the house. Well, it was packed - which, around Fort Walton, is NOT an indicator of being worth it. There is not a lot of competition, so you can suck pretty bad but it's something different than Waffle House, so people will go! Firstly, it was hot inside. Secondly, the tables are awkward, and there's some strangely placed 'decor', i.e. a giant whisk next to the cash register area, so if, God forbid, you need to wash your hands or use the ONE restroom, you have to thread the needle to get there. Finally, we ordered straight away and our server did the best she could, but it took 50 minutes to get three waffles and my two-egg breakfast that showed up with a single pancake that I did not order. When I mentioned that I didn't order a pancake, I got a frustrated snap back that, "because the cost of eggs have gone up so much, he's including a pancake with each breakfast." Well, that crap got wasted because I don't like pancakes. The waffles, a red velvet and two oreo, we're SMOTHERED in icing. Such an incredible amount that MY SUGAR ADDICT KIDS DIDN'T EAT IT. Too strong a drink for an alcoholic? Say it ain't so! My food was cold, toast not toasted, small portion of potatoes. Then BAM, the bill. If it were a killer breakfast, no issue. But I would gladly go to Waffle House or even McDonald's, knowing what I was paying for, over this. Never again and I can honestly say that. Never! $60 with a 10% tip. Grrrrr.
(1)Johnny B.
Amazing food! Amazing friendly service! Did I mention how wonderful the food was??? Must try the smoked pull pork! Great place!
(5)Robin C.
Waited 15 before our order was taken and another 40 minutes to get our food. No apologies from our waitress or anyone. The food was just Ok.
(1)Ravi B.
This place is awesome! My family and I discovered it on yelp. This was the first place we found that has multiple types if eggs Benedict! We weren't a huge fan of the holandaise sauce but it was still good. We got the BBQ pulled pork one and we can say it did need more sauce. The shrimp po boy was amazing!! This was the first time I tried a poinsettia drink too and it's better than a mimosa! The portions are huge so definitely share! I recommend getting a po boy and add an additional four inches and splitting it with three people. That will be enough for the three and cost effective. The servers were really nice and helpful too. I would definitely recommend this place!
(4)MICHELLE B.
Yep. Just yep. Def worth trying. We just moved here and have eaten at Tommy M's about 5 times over the last two months. We generally like to try new restaurants to get out and explore the area but this place is so good we can't help but return. Never had a bad dish here. Very hearty portions and fair prices. It can get a little crowded but never more than a two min wait. Plus military discount and friendly service! Chicken parm po'boy was great--crisp/chewy gambino bread and good quality chicken All varieties of Benedicts were yummy. Red velvet waffle--heaven Pulled pork sandwich and beans--moist, tender, and smoky.
(5)Joseph M.
Awesome spot to have breakfast! Always enjoy the great service and food! Can't beat a good local spot!
(5)Valerie S.
The first time my husband and I ate here it was- ok. Service was slow and we were confused as to which server was actually on our table. Other than that, Bennies were pretty good, although barely warm. The second time we went was on a Tuesday morning so attention to our table was much quicker. According to the menu, at 10:30 the lunch specials are available. Since it was just shy of 10:30, we asked if the "award winning half chicken" was available. She said she would ask and returned with a yes. Cool! The menu said it came with 2 sides and bread, but our server said it came with green beans and something else my husband would never order. Confused, he just said "ok". I played it safe and ordered a Bennie. We receive our food and I looked at my husbands plate and declared that it didn't look like any smoked chicken I had ever seen. Turns out, she confused the special on the board near the door (chicken fried something) *blech!* with what he wanted. She apologized and went to order the "award winning" version only to return with the sad news that "we don't have that". Uhhh....ok He choked down as much as he could because he was starving at this point. I ate my pretty good, but again, lukewarm bennie. Our server was new, but wasn't really getting alot of support from the veteran servers as she was the one that yelled across the empty restaurant to tell us that this exceptional smoked chicken indeed is not served on tuesday. Very disappointing and too expensive. Maybe the regulars get better treatment/food but we will not return.
(2)Christine C.
If you love breakfast foods you definitely have to check this place out! Almost everything is good. Prices are decent and staff is friendly.
(5)Kayla E.
Red velvet waffle was delicious. We ordered it as a starter for the table. Very local and casual feel. Ton of Benedicts to choose from. Very tasty.
(3)Ken G.
While visiting friends and family in FWB they insisted that we go to this restaurant for breakfast. I could see why. The food is made from scratch and it is wonderful. To their horror, however, i did not order one of the fifteen or so "Bennies" that they offer. I was amused by the creativity in the various types they offered, but i have never really been a big Eggs Benedict kind of guy, even though they had some exotic and interesting combinations of flavors you could order. I did get to sample from several dishes ordered by those in my party, and i can honestly say, you might not find a better breakfast on the Emerald Coast. I was too enamored with a menu item I located on the brunch side: Gulf Steak Tacos. My goodness it was one of the best dishes I have ever had, and I would order this for breakfast any time i went there. It is made completely from scratch and the grilled onions and peppers that are mixed in with the fabulously marinated strips of steaks simply melt in your mouth with each bite. They brought me some salsa and sour cream, but you didn't need it; a true sign of a well prepared dish. The portions were fair, the service was prompt and friendly even though they were very busy, and the prices were reasonable. The food, simply exceptional. Don't leave FWB without trying this place out.
(4)Chelsea W.
Nothing special. I've heard so many good things about TMs and couldn't wait to try it, but I was so disappointed. Everything tasted like it came from a can. I got the pulled pork Benny and it was barely warm and had very little flavor. My husband got the crab cakes and I'm almost positive the hollandaise was made with a mix. Service was ok. There are so many other brunch places to try, I probably won't be back.
(3)Kaliska D.
Diner type food. It's not bad but it's not healthy either. Greasy goodness if that's what you're looking for.
(3)Joe L.
Tommy Mattonies as a whole was disappointing. It took too long for our food order to come out and with so many selections closer to where we were staying, it's not somewhere I would travel a great distant to eat. Don't make the mistake of getting the oyster PO-Boy. Pre-Frozen/Pre-breaded oysters - Terrible. The roast beef PO-Boy was good. But not worth the 30 minute drive in traffic and the wait. I can say that the breakfast looked very good that others were eating.
(3)Todd C.
Delicious breakfast! The staff is outstanding. We had the SOS, blueberry crepe and custom made scrambled eggs, all spectacular!!
(5)Mark M.
Food was pretty good. Excellent smoked meat, but the po-boy I had could've used some sauce because it was a bit dry, but the flavor was awesome. The Floribbean tacos were a new experience, and I liked them a lot. Atmosphere outside is really nice, and inside is standard diner type, but inside a converted house. Overall, a good experience.
(3)Lisa M.
We arrived for breakfast on a Sunday morning about 1015. It was our first visit. We waited for a table about 15 mins. I got the steak Benedict, husband had sos Benedict. We were both satisfied with flavor and quantity of the food. I'm not sure that it was worth the wait. It took almost an hour before we got our food. Still no food after 11am, other people had ordered poboys and their food was coming out. I was beginning to think I'm not in the mood for breakfast anymore. So if you come here for breakfast be warned it maybe lunch time before you actually eat. Other than the long wait it was good. I think in the future we will keep driving if the front parking is full.
(4)Seepferdchen J.
My favorite is the crab cake benedict, although I've never had a bad meal here. Next trip is the red velvet waffles!
(5)Mark R.
The brunch food here is fantastic, but saying the service is slow would be a gross understatement. Old Man Mattonie would be rolling over in his grave if he observed the snail-like speed of the cooks in the kitchen. It's a shame, the food really is delicious. But waiting an hour after ordering a couple of eggs is outrageous
(2)Aaron B.
Went 3 times in the week we were down here and it was FANTASTIC!! The various eggs Benedict were creative and delicious, my personal favorite being the crab cake one. And their smoked meats are perfectly done. Extremely reasonable prices for what you're getting. Only complaint is the chairs are a little uncomfortable but you can't complain about a great local place with amazing food too much!
(5)Pinky J.
This is one of mine and my boyfriend's favorite spot. Our first date was here, actually. The food's great and the staff members are extremely friendly. One time, one of the waitresses let me try some of her "green smoothie," it was amazing :D
(5)Sara R.
My boyfriend & I like to frequent this place for brunch on Sundays. They're service is quick & the food is always incredible, being made from scratch. When it's the season, they grown & use they're own herbs from their back terrace. **The biscuits & gravy are TO DIE FOR!
(5)Brian P.
Really good food is I gots to say...
(5)Ryan D.
Was seated quickly and ordered within a few minutes. However, after waiting approx 35min I had to ask the waitress what was taking so long. I had only ordered one order of the crab egg Bennie. After a few more minutes go by the waitress comes back and tells me it will more than likely be another 20 minutes, at which point I left. How does it take an hour to make one dish? If it does take an hour then the waitress should have notified me as soon as I sat down.
(1)Heather D.
Best Breakfast ever!! The server was ok but she was really busy but since the food was so delicious that explain why a little restaurant off the side of the road was so pack!!
(5)Anthony F.
Outstanding pulled pork and brisket. Catering services reasonably priced. Fried corn was excellent. Their breakfast menu is great also.
(5)Shannon T.
Great food. Wonderful breakfast and BBQ. We go here all the time. This place has a wonderful spin on " Floridian" eating. There is a smoke pit out back where the BBQ is created. They have outdoor seating. The atmosphere is comfy and casual.
(4)Angi V.
Overall it was disappointing. As mentioned in someone else's review, we also had a different server each time someone came to the table. I asked for cocktail sauce and the cup they brought me was the consistency of Jell-O--definitely not sauce! When I showed it to the waitress, she just said "Yeah, that happens". She took it back to the kitchen and brought out another cup. All she did was take it in back, put in a larger cup & stir it up--still jelly junk. Nothing that should be served to a customer.
(2)Travis P.
Loved it. I can't wait to go back. It's very quaint and the waitresses are all very nice and helpful. I had the Spanish Bennie and it was delicious and unique. I would recommend it if you're in the area.
(5)Dawn L.
Happened upon on this wonderful restaurant by accident! Right time, right place and yelp! LOL So glad we did! Will be our go to place for breakfast when we are in Ft. Walton!
(5)William L.
Great local restaurant. Only stopped for breakfast and loved it. A little expensive for breakfast but I'll go back for sure.
(5)Kelly W.
The food is awesome but both times we have been there the service was horrible. We were seated by one waitress who took our drink order and never came back. Another one took our food order and yet another brought our food. We had to ask for refills. The same person never came to our table twice.
(3)P W.
Great food and decent prices. The only slight issue is the wait times for something simple as eggs. But seeing this a very popular place for breakfast, I can understand. Their servers are friendly and attentive to the customer. I've been to Assagios on the "Island" and Tommy's many times. Assagios just got wiped off the list!
(4)Joan R.
Good local spot. The servers have always been prompt & friendly. My husband loves the benies here. I like that they have an outdoor seating area for those nice days.
(5)Brandon J.
Visited Destin and on way to airport was lucky enough to see TMs. Awesome Po Boys. Had the shrimp and a pulled pork one. Best po boys i had including new orleans trips. Great customer service too. Everyone was extremely nice. If back in town def will come back.
(5)Marie W.
Came here to eat with my Dad for lunch. GREAT place, great food, and cool atmosphere. Definitely want to come back and try their brunch menu out.
(5)Chelsie S.
Great locally owned brunch location. Service was friendly, food was good, and prices were right. Plan to return here again since it's only about 2 miles away. I chose the Floribbean Omlet and my boyfriend got the Spanish Main Bennie. They have nearly a dozen different kinds of eggs benedict, if that's your thing. Also had crepes and waffles in addition to more heavier traditional lunch items like sandwiches and poboys.
(4)Ashley M.
My husband and I love this place! We've tried other breakfast spots and we are always disappointed. First, it's a very cozy sweet diner/ cafe with parking in front and back. Our servers are usually very accommodating, sweet, and they offer military discount. They have a small size breakfast that is perfect for me for a great price! They make perfect poached eggs, biscuits are delicious and my husband loves their omelette.
(5)Boo L.
I enjoyed my first visit to this establishment well enough, I suppose. I went at lunchtime with a friend and we both had today's special, which was ribs with two sides (we chose fried corn and baked beans). All of the meats here are smoked, as advertised on their sign outside. The ribs were large spareribs and they had a great smokey flavor. The meat was tender but not fall-off-the-bone. They came very lightly sauced with one that had a slight yellowish tinge to it and some sweetness. On the table was a bottle simply labeled "Memphis Red" and it was indeed a red BBQ sauce, but I didn't find it to be as tasty as the one that came on the meat. The fried corn threw me for a loop because I was expecting traditional, shaved off the cobb, fried corn. This was a third of a cobb that had been seasoned and fried whole. It was pretty good. The baked beans were just ok for me, but I admit that I'm a baked bean snob. I think that many will like them just fine, though. The service was good so that's a plus. Breakfast/brunch is also served at lunchtime so I will try that next time. Parking can be a nightmare as there are only a few spaces in a small lot directly in the front, and the street the place is on is very busy. If you pull in and the lot is full you will have to maneuver like hell to get turned around because you won't be able to back out onto the street. More parking is available around back.
(3)Michael P.
Great food, great presentation, and friendly staff. Would recommend. I had the SOS Bennie; sausage and buiscuit with gravy and poached egg. Phenomenal.
(4)Tiki N.
Tommy's is a great place for breakfast with a large variety of choices and they open early for the business community (6:00am)! Their omelettes are excellent. Be sure to order it with Gouda Cheese Grits! Top it all off with a Key Lime Crepe!
(4)Heather H.
Great local place. Friendly service, innovative and tasty dishes inspired by NOLA and Florida. Distinctive for a little breakfast and lunch joint.
(5)Susan F.
My first visit to Tommie's. Staff was helpful and efficient. The eggs Benedict and biscuit and gravy were perfect. Highly recommend. Need to try lunch sometime.
(5)Hazel T.
Service was good but it took way too long for the food to be cooked. The place wasn't even that busy. We went for breakfast so obviously we hadn't had anything to eat. We were starving by the time we got our food. The multiple flies buzzing around didn't help our irritation with the place. The food was good but we weren't sure if it was because we were so hungry. I had the Bennie that didn't have meat with cheese grits and my husband got the Spanish mane platter. We also ordered the hash brown casserole which I liked a lot. The blueberry crepe was meh. I doubt we'll be going back only because it shouldn't take 30 minutes to cook breakfast.
(3)Gregor G.
Very good local flair. Best slow roasted smoked meat around, but breakfast is absolutely fantastic!
(4)Ed B.
Well Tommy did call me after about 2 months and said sorry about the way i was treated. Did it still happen......yes. If i did not write this would anything have ever happen about it......no. Will i go back.....maybe but no time soon. But he did call.
(3)Tina L.
Food was awesome but kitchen gets back up therefore we waited a long time for our food to come out. It was worth the wait though! I had the pulled pork eggs Benedict, it was very very good. Our table got the red velvet waffle and cinnamon roll French toast for the table to share both were OUTSTANDING! Don't miss this place.
(4)Ryan M.
Had the crab cake Bennie and it was great. My brother got the steak Bennie and that was even better. Highly recommended
(4)Jason A.
I really love Shrimp Po Boys and decided to check this place out. I preordered about 15 minutes early over the phone so I could just grab and go. Once I got there I still had to wait about 10-15 minutes to get my order. The sandwich was a little disappointing and the price was a bit steep as well. I probably won't come here again.
(2)Carrie I.
"Very yummy! Cute place off the beaten path. The "smoker" out back smelled awesome as it smoked the brisket. Cuban was good! Service was good. I would come back."
(4)Dan D.
I went with a buddy for lunch, and while the service was good, our food was meh. I don't think I'll go back.
(2)Jessica L.
I was lucky enough to get to taste Tommy Mattonies for the first time recently at a chamber event I attended. The food was great and the restaraunt is cozy. I have to comment on the dessert. I am not a person who likes desserts but given the event I was at and its purpose I decided to try the crepe they gave us. Yum, yum, yummy this was to die for. For someone who typically doesn't like or eat desserts this was perfect. It wasn't to rich and it was very light. Not to mention it was the perfect size not too big for those who were already full, don't want to eat a lot of desserts or are trying to keep their sweets limited. I'll keep coming back and bring my friends/family who visit!
(5)Liz B.
My husband and I made a point of going out of our way to stop by here for lunch on our way to another location in FWB. I had read the review in the NW Florida Daily News and thought we should give it a try. The building is tucked back off Eglin Pkwy. by the foot of the Shalimar Bridge with a small parking lot and is easy to miss. Overall we were disappointed, but it is worth a second try given the ambitious menu and reviews. I selected the "Galley Grilled Brie with Mushrooms and Tarragon"..................I'm still looking for the Brie and tarragon!!!!! From the menu description I envisioned a grilled Brie cheese sandwich with sauteed mushrooms, onions, garlic and tarragon on top. Not the case. I could not taste nor see any Brie cheese, much less the tarragon. When the waitress served my plate I saw what I thought was roast beef (actually I saw the dark brown grilled onions and mushrooms hanging out from the bread)and told her I had ordered the grilled Brie. It was served on regular warm hoagie bread and all I tasted was grilled mushrooms, onions and garlic. If the cheese had melted, then it had vanished too. My husband selected the "Fat Boy's Slow Smoked Pulled Pork Po-Boy". He is a Kansas City Certified BBQ Judge and said it was good, not great. We noticed a small BBQ sign out by the road as we drove in and a smokehouse with lots of firewood out back, but this is definitely not a to-go-to place for BBQ. The interior decor was standard issue for a sandwich place with a sailing theme, but overall the interior impression was one of old and used and needs some freshening up. The waitress was polite, friendly and attentive and said Tommy Mattonie's had been open for 8 months. The breakfast menu looked interesting with a number of items being "Mattonie's Bennies" (Eggs Benedict). I have read where the specialty crepes are great, so our second try will be for breakfast and crepes.
(3)Ipek Y.
The food is delicious. Unfortunately the service is record breakingly slow. I have never experience something like this. We waited more than an hour and was about to leave. Go there when you are full and you will feel hungry by the time the food is served.
(3)Michael E.
The past two times I've been here the food has been excellent! However the wait staff always look like chickens with their heads cut off. At one point 4 of 7 ladies were at the hostess stand figuring something out. There is only one credit card machine. Meanwhile guests are staring at each other like where's my food or drink. I know I waited at least ten minutes before my drinks order was taken. Here's a tip, assign one lady to seat and help clean tables behind wait stand while the other 6 manage the mere 19 tables that's roughly 3 tables per lady. Also assign sections per waitress and not people as they come in because you have ladies all over the place covering so much distance for their tables and it's not efficient. The way it looks each lady has ten tables. And who's in charge? Everyone seems to be doing their own thing without any clear direction. I won't be coming back until some sort of structure is established that reduces wait time. Now I noticed a group come in that knows some of the wait staff let's see how long they have to wait from the time they seat till good on the table.... 20 minute wait for them guess it pays to know people. Ok this sucks two groups that sat down a few minutes before us has gotten their food paid and left and we are still waiting for food and we are not alone. 40 minutes later we can eat
